Rock to Rock is a day-long celebration of Earth Day, and of New Haven’s rich environmental and cultural resources. Here’s how it works: You and a few hundred others will travel from West Rock and East Rock, with celebrations on both sides of the city. Along the way, eat tasty food, hear great music, take on environmental service projects, explore Edgewood and Beaver Ponds Parks, and ride Farmington Canal Trail and official city bike lanes.

Workout on Whitney (WOW) is a new gym near downtown New Haven that brings you the best in Group Fitness and Pilates Reformer classes and offers a variety of dance, mind/body, and fitness classes that are both fun and effective!  WOW features three separate fitness studios for indoor cycling (which the Payne Whitney Gym does not currently offer), group fitness (Pilates Fusion, Boot Camp, Zumba, Hip Hop and more), and Pilates Reformer (Private/Group Classes and Boot Camp)!  Owners Sally Brenzel and Amanda Mia have worked for many years in the fitness industry, building and managing group fitness programs for an international chain of health clubs. They bring their knowledge of fitness and management expertise and passion for safe and effective workouts to Workout On Whitney.

During the month of October, WOW will be offering $10 drop-in rates for fitness classes!

Elm City Dance Collective is a New Haven-based organization that values an experiential and collaborative approach to dance creation, education and performance.  ECDC works to challenge ideas about movement and reinvent the performance experience.  In Fall 2009, ECDC held classes in Modern Contemporary Dance Technique, Floor Barre and Yoga for Dancers.  In its Winter/Spring 2010 semester, ECDC added a series of Master Classes.  Check out ECDC’s website for more information on their current class offerings and upcoming performances!
